The California Department of Motor Vehicles revealed Monday that it had “mistakenly” registered 1,500 non-eligible people, including non-U.S. citizens, to vote, despite assuring the public for years it had safeguards to prevent that from happening.

Breitbart reports this is just the latest scandal for the DMV which admitted a month ago that it made over 23,000 voter registration errors.

California’s Democratic Secretary of State Alex Padilla has called for an independent audit of the DMV and election officials reportedly canceled the voter registrations for those who are not eligible.

Conservatives have long warned that the DMV’s new registration process was problematic and could lead to non-citizens voting.
