Former Texas representative and possible 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke said Thursday that not only does he oppose President Trump’s border wall but he would rip out existing walls along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Washington Times reports O’Rourke was asked by Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw and then by MSNBC host Chris Hayes that, if border walls are immoral or dangerous, why let the existing ones stand.

To that he replied, “Yes, absolutely. I’d take the wall down.”

O’Rourke also claimed El Paso residents would back him up on tearing it down.

Crenshaw also noted the El Paso mayor said “The fence has worked,” and residents have “stated that they felt more secure with the fence.”
