When PG Meant Jaws: Kids at the Movies in the ’70s

You get a funny, anxious recollection of being 11 (with a 9-year-old friend) dropped at Beachwood Cinemas to see Jaws—a “PG” movie in 1975. The bit walks through the poster you didn’t read, the jump-scare head in the boat, the crab-in-the-eye moment, Quint’s gruesome end, and the final explosion. It closes by noting other then-PG shocks like Poltergeist, The NeverEnding Story, and the Kid Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
