Dear Democrats – PLEASE! Run Gavin Newsom for POTUS

In the immortal words of Clint Eastwood’s iconic Dirty Harry Callahan, “Go ahead, make my day.” Newsom has access to massive money and all the “slick” Hollywood could ask for, but his record as Governor of California is so abysmal, and growing worse by the day, that a POTUS run would make Kamala Harris’ recent attempt look good. Harris was a blank slate onto which Dems tried to paint a pretty picture, but there is nothing blank about Newsom. Newsom’s predecessor – Jerry Brown – was once renown as “Governor Moonbeam” for his left-leaning tendencies, but he knew how to run a state. Newsom takes all that left-leaning enthusiasm and combines with an absolute and total absence of capability to actually run things, leaving California in a dysfunctional pile. Newsom’s record as California Governor is a cudgel with which the Republicans could beat him on a repeated basis throughout a presidential campaign. Who needs oppo research when your opponent has record like Newsom’s?
All of which brings me to this week’s pile of California news:
Jim Geraghty makes my point precisely. Beege Wellborn piles on the Newsom beating while discussing the ever-rising price of gas in the state.
Business, including TV and movies, and people are leaving California at a breakneck pace – and it seems like California wants it that way. I mean they cannot even drain storm water properly – in a water-short state.
California and Connecticut are working together on a multi-state “plan of attack” against President Donald Trump’s repeal of the foundation of federal climate regulation of vehicles, the states’ attorneys general told Reuters on Tuesday.
Because they want to save the planet – right? Uh no. Elsewhere:
California, Colorado and Washington are suing the federal government to force it to pay out grants approved by Congress for clean energy projects, the California attorney general’s office said on Wednesday.
They want the money – that’s all. They need it. They are begging for it for things like 911 systems and high-speed rail, but it is clearly not going there. Money is fungible – my guess is that they are using these directed funds simply to keep the insolvent state afloat. They have to pay the wife-beating officials with something.
Newsom’s approval ratings among Californians are tanking. But it is not his fault – he’s dyslexic – coverage from HotAir and PJ Media. That’s how bad it has gotten for him – he is appealing for pity.
That’s exactly what we need – a pitiful president.
